Long-term Aspects

This month there are three main astrological influences out there that you should be aware of. These will be in effect for months as a minimum and knowing what’s going on will help you understand at least some of what’s happening day by day.

For starters, Saturn and your Sign Ruler, Uranus, are in opposition. Saturn is all about stability, responsibility, obligations, structure, and delays while Uranus is all about sudden change, disruptions, rebellion, freedom, and the unexpected. Obviously these two planets are diametrically opposed in principle as well as astrologically! It gets even more interesting when you consider the house placement. Saturn is in your 8^th House of sex, death, transformations, and other people’s money and Uranus is in your 2^nd House of finance, pleasures, and possessions, including your physical body. Thus, Saturn is trying to impose structure or trying to increase your sense of responsibility in your 8^th while Uranus is stirring things up in your 2^nd, which could mean one financial crisis after another. You can see that this horoscopic axis has some things in common, so the affects will overlap in some areas. This tug-o-war between them will be in effect until mid-March.

As if that’s not enough, there’s more. Saturn went retrograde on New Years Eve. This internalizes Saturn’s energy such that’s he’s working in an even more subtle manner. If he’s aspecting one of your natal planets it will be much stronger and will relate to that planet and the house in which it resides. What Saturn tends to do is wrap up some element of your life during the retrograde period, which will last until May 16, during which time restructuring is being executed somewhere in your life. With him currently resident in your 8^th House of transformations, there is a target-rich environment for life-changing experiences. With the economy the way it is these days, most people have plenty of things to address regarding their debt load, income security, investments, and so forth, all of which stretch across your 2^nd and 8^th Houses.

Once May 16 arrives, you’ll have a good idea of what needs to be done. If you’re wise you’ll accept Saturn’s tutoring and move in that direction, in which case you should have everything taken care of by the end of August. From that point on you’ll be able to move forward in perhaps a slightly different direction, but with additional wisdom and a new view of life. Since the opposition to Uranus is only in effect until mid-March, after that the disruptions and unexpected crises should calm down to some degree, for what little that may be worth.

Another thing with long-term effects is the lunar eclipse on February 9. This will occur in Leo, your polar sign, and for those of you born between February 5 – 15, give or take a few days, this will be opposite your natal Sun, placing it in your 7^th House of relationships. This is predicted to be a fairly gentle eclipse with the generic flavor of increasing commitment in relationships and perhaps shifting your circle of friends or coworkers in some way, which will have a very positive outcome. Lunar eclipses can remain in effect for up to six months, so if you don’t see something immediately, it doesn’t mean it won’t have any influence. However, sometimes eclipses come and go and simply aren’t relevant to our lives at that time, so the possibilities for this cover the full spectrum.

This eclipse was the companion to the solar eclipse that occurred in your 1^st House of personality on January 26 at 6 degrees Aquarius. This would be most influential for those of you born as January Aquarians through the first week of February. Solar eclipses usually bring events or people into our lives and the lunar eclipse represents our emotional reaction and how we process and integrate these happenings personally. The influence of solar eclipses can last as long as a year. Thus, you are up for some personal changes, deepening relationships, and new people coming into your lives. Social beings that you are, this should be an exciting and enjoyable time and something to look forward to.

Another long-term influence is good ol’ Pluto, who’s taken up residence in Capricorn for the long-haul. This is your 12^th House of spirituality, dreams, inspiration, and hidden enemies. Pluto is the zodiacal forensic specialist who will be giving this part of your psyche close scrutiny for several years to come. This, too, should bring many interesting experiences and changes in this part of your life. This is certainly a more comfortable location for Pluto house-wise than some people have to deal with, so you can thank heavens for yet another reason that you’re an Aquarius!

Short-term Aspects

Moving right along, now let’s take a look at what you might expect during February on a more daily basis. The Sun's in your Sign, so it should be filled with attention.

Venus goes into Aries, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, short journeys, and neighbors on February 3. This should not only give you pleasant thoughts, but also make others more receptive to them, so if you have any messages you need to convey, ideas you want to get across, or day trips you'd like to take, this is a good time to do so. Just avoid doing so on the 5th, when a cranky aspect from the Sun may have the opposite effect. Also on the 5th, Venus will square Pluto. This will conjure up visions of past loves that may even reveal something about them or your relationship that you missed at the time. It could also be useful for doing some deep analysis on your checkbook or investments.

On February 4 Mars goes into Aquarius, which will give you plenty of energy to start out your next cycle. Just make sure you don't come on too strong and turn anyone off in the process. Direct it toward positive activities and you should accomplish much. On the 7th you are likely to encounter a situation where someone tries to deceive you in some way, but you'll see right through it and probably react in a less than friendly way. On the 8th be prepared to be affected strongly by something that will have a transformational effect on you at a very personal level. This will be even more pronounced if that happens to be your birthday. Be on the lookout on the 9th for something to come at you from out of the blue that attacks your checkbook, though it could also simply be the desire to buy something you simply can't afford. It will be annoying, at any rate, and involve money.

Also on the 9th we have the New Moon/lunar eclipse in Pisces, you're 2nd House of finances, possession, pleasures, and your physical body. Lunar eclipses can affect us for up to six months. This one is supposed to have a gentle nature and in this house it might incline you to be more committed to managing your finances in a responsible manner. It's companion solar eclipse occurred on January 26 in Aquarius with its expected influence already covered above in the long-term aspects. Don't be too impulsive on the 11th or 12th as you might find yourself face to face with a situation you won't like. There's a significant lesson in there somewhere, so even if it's only a close call pay attention to what happened and why, then put it under your various other Lessons Learned about life.

There are some interesting things happening on the 12th as the Sun forms a conjunction with Neptune in your Sign. If this is your birthday, it will be even more interesting in that the effects will last for the entire year. This is a favorable aspect for inspiration and seeing things on a different more spiritual level, but it can also open you up to deception. Turn up the volume on your perception and that Air Sign logic to protect yourself from the latter, but look forward to enjoying lots of inspiration and interesting dreams during that time. Mercury goes into Aquarius on the 14th, further enhancing your ability to communicate clearly. Thank the heavens he's no longer retrograde, which is generally loaded with nuisances for us all.

You may have an idea around the 15th that has a lot of appeal, but again make sure it's realistic. The next day more annoying news from your past is likely to make an appearance, but about that same time a really good idea will come along for dealing with that as well as some other things you're dealing with at this time. On the 17th you'll have a burst of energy that you should harness as appropriate, but since Mars is involved, again make sure you're not too aggressive in going after whatever it is you want. The Sun leaves your Sign for Pisces on the 18th and that same day you should experience another flood of ideas. Communications with the opposite sex should also go well at that time. Be a bit cautious regarding whom you share your ideas with, however, and also be extra cautious with anything that has to do with money. This is not a good time to incur more debt.

Surprising or unexpected news or perhaps something breaking down at an inopportune time is likely on the 20th. The next day would be a good one to take a good, hard look at your budget and spending habits with a mind toward improving that area of you life. On the 24th your ability to communicate will be greatly enhanced but make sure you're not over-confident or talk more than you should to get the point across. The New Moon in Pisces occurs on the 25th, which implies something new is coming along regarding your financial situation or perhaps you'll be making a significant purchase or even starting a diet or fitness program to improve your appearance. Good ideas or profuse, so write them down so you won't forget them. More annoying gremlins from the past will be at your door causing some friction on the 27th and you'll have a better understanding of what it was all about the following day. Think about it along and hard because it's important information you need to internalize.

This will be a busy month with a lot of it on the mental and financial plane. Good ideas are out there and your energy levels should be high. This is a great month to gather all those ideas together and make some viable plans for the future, particularly as they relate to your financial well-being.
