Long-term Aspects

There are three long-term influences out there this month that you should take note of so that you can utilize them to the fullest. The Universe wants us to grow and be successful and even though there are times that its tutoring can be rather grueling (e.g. when Pluto was grinding away on your Natal Sun a while back) in the long run these make us wiser (hopefully) and better able to conduct our lives in a positive and contributing manner. I know that probably sounds like the ominous preamble to another transit from Hell, but it's really not. What you need to remember is that the astrological energy is going to manifest somewhere in your life, but you generally have some measure of control of how that occurs. For example, with that Pluto transit the lesson was largely about power. Either you were the victim of someone else's power, the government's power, your employer or boss' power or conversely, you exerted your power, possibly in an overbearing way. Maybe you got tired of being a victim and came back stronger than necessary to compensate and since then have learned a proper balance. You either use it, or it uses you, but the objective is for you to learn the principle.

That said, this month you'll be working on issues related to balancing your career/reputation and changes in your home environment. Saturn, who's all about structure, discipline, obligations, delays, and responsibility is in your 10th House of career, which also includes your public image. This could bring additional responsibilities at work that impact your home life, with you having to decide where the boundaries are. Uranus, however, is in your 4th House of home environment and there's a good chance he's stirring things up in that part of your life with all sorts of disruptions and surprises, which is what he does. Needless to say how these energies manifest will be customized to you, personally, and your own situation, which of course you have created. Now the Universe is testing you to see how you'll handle it.

It gets more interesting in that Saturn is currently retrograde, which started on New Years Eve, somewhat of a zodiacally imposed New Years Resolution. Saturn RX will encapsulate something that needs an incubation period for deep, unconscious consideration. You thus may or may not know what this is now, but around May 16 when Saturn goes direct you should have a clear picture of what this is. Then between May 16 and mid to late August you'll have the opportunity to take care of business and do something to improve this area of your life. Put this in the back of your mind and as various events come your way over the next few months, see if they fit this mold. If your birthday is between December 10 - 14 this influence will be stronger as these two planets conduct a tug-o-war with your Natal Sun. In the long run whatever is going on is going to be a good thing, so bear that in mind if some of the daily events that come along seem less than enchanting. This tug-o-war between Saturn and Uranus will last until around mid-March, then after that the disruptions and surprise events will still be there but will have less impact to your career and such. Remember that career and day job are not always the same. Career is the mark you leave on the world whereas you day job may only be how you earn a paycheck. Thus, this may not manifest on the job, though it might. Based on the Sagittarius folks I've known, you're intelligent enough to figure this out. However, I've also know a few who were all intelligence and no brains, if you know what I mean.

Another thing to note about February is that Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse that occurs on February 9 in your 9th House of long distance travel, core beliefs, relocation, legal matters and academia. If these sound like things with which you can relate, it's because Sagittarius lives in the zodiacal 9th House and these things are very important to you. This is the companion to the Solar Eclipse that occurred on January 26 in Aquarius, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, short journeys, and neighbors. From a generic standpoint, this pair of eclipses is about relationships and deepening our commitment to them as well as changing some of our group associations due to travel or ideas. The location of these eclipses astrologically further strengthens this theme. Tied in with your career and home life, this implies the possibility for a new job, a move, or something similar. Solar eclipses can remain in force for as along as a year and lunar eclipses for six months. The Solar portion tends to trigger events while the Lunar portion represents our emotional reaction and internalization of them. What's going on in your life that fits this mold?

Last but not least for long-term influences is good ol' Pluto who's now settled down in Capricorn never to return to Sagittarius again in your lifetime. I can just about hear the sighs of relief. However, Pluto's backhoe is now in your 2nd House of possession, finance and pleasures. If this part of your life is under perfect control then chances are he'll have little if any work to do. On the other hand, if this part of your life is somewhat askew, and whose isn't these days, then be prepared for having your nose rubbed in any past mistakes you've made in this area. This house also relates to how you earn your living. Your 2nd, 6th, and 10th Houses form a nice trine, which for Sagittarians falls in Capricorn, Taurus, and Virgo, all nice, stable Earth Signs. This should help you find security, stability, perseverance, and dedication to earning a good living. Pluto is all about death and rebirth, so if there's something that's getting old and no longer serves its purpose, expect to be doing some renovation in that area in the coming years.

Short-term Aspects

So, moving right along, let's see what the daily aspects are up to, which are likely to feed into these major themes. First of all, the Sun is in your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, and neighbors until the 18th, which will highlight this area in some way. Accompanied by your Sign Ruler, Jupiter; Neptune, who's been there quite a while; Mars, who joins them on the 4th and Mercury who comes along on the 14th, this House is getting a whole bunch of emphasis this month. No one thrives on ideas like a Sagittarius, except maybe your polar sign, Gemini, so this should make for an interesting, exciting and satisfying mental experience this month, especially since Mercury comes out of retrograde on the 1st (thank heavens). Your 4th House of home environment may be hectic, but the good news is that Venus is there for the first few days, then moves into your 5th House of creativity, children, romance, entertainment, speculation and ego expression. Venus is usually welcome anywhere, but she should especially bring good things to that area of you life, regardless of what may be going on elsewhere. Thus, this is a good place to hide out if the going gets rough somewhere else.

The first week of the month expect some irritations, perhaps when those at home aren't terribly impressed by some of your brilliant ideas. This may come as a reminder from someone in your household of similar brainstorms in the past that didn't quite work as advertised. Suck up your pride and listen carefully as there's a lesson there somewhere that you probably missed the first go-round. Sometimes those flashes of brilliance don't quite work out in this Earthly realm. Be prepared to make a few adjustments or course changes based on reality, which includes your responsibilities. In other words, no matter how strongly you may feel about packing up your belongings and moving to Hollywood to become a movie producer, now just might not be the time. Right around this same time, on the 9th, that Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse noted above comes along, so keep an eye out for vibes from that.

Chances are your responsibilities will continue to get in your way as the month progresses as well. Annoyances and irritations are out there aplenty, but try to take them in stride, understand the whys and wherefores, and adapt accordingly. As a Mutable Sign, you should find switching to "Alternate Plan B" easier than others. On the 12th is an excellent time to do some serious brainstorming. Inspiration will be flowing, though it could also be like drinking from a fire hose. It takes money to make money and you may have to face the reality that it just ain't there. This doesn't mean it's impossible, only that you need to look somewhere else for the resources. On the 16th Venus will throw a nice sextile to Jupiter, which will also fuel your creativity, and could also bring an opportunity that will assist with finding some money, if that's what you're looking for. If you're looking simply for ideas you should be able to come up with some great ones. On the 17th Mars will form a conjunction with Jupiter, which will fire up your thought processes even more with the drive you need to make them reality. Harness this energy properly, however, and don't let it simply be used as a burst that's pretty but doesn't accomplish much, like a nice fireworks display. On the 18th more opportunities are coming your way and you'll have a lot of mental energy to pursue them. This is not to say that there won't be any speed bumps along the way. Things are looking good, but not perfect, so take it in stride.

Circumstances at home may get in your way again on the 20th, but remember where your priorities should be and respond accordingly. Opportunities to learn from something in the past and possibly shed some old baggage is also out there about this time. Mercury is next in line to be in conjunction with Jupiter on the 24th, which should really fire things up mentally. This will further be supported by a New Moon in Pisces, your 4th House of home environment, on the 25th. This will bring something new into this area of your life. More opportunities, possibly related to love or money, are coming on the 25th, though once again an annoyance or two related to past mistakes may bring some nuisance your way the last few days of the month. Remember that saying about the best laid plans of mice and men when you hit an obstacle on the 28th that relates to your responsibilities or obligations in some way, but don't see it as a Detour as opposed to a Stop Sign.

Over all this looks like a very positive month for you. You love mental action and there will be plenty of it. Put it to good use and synthesize it into new elements and influences in your core beliefs. These are what drive us and determine who and what we are as well as where we go in life. There's a lot out there for you this month so don't let it pass you by.
