Lunations and Long Term Aspects

This month there's quite a variety of lingering aspects out there that you're likely to notice in one way or another. As always, the Full and New Moons tie them together, but before going into that I want to warn you that Mercury goes into one of his ornery retrograde cycles on May 6, so from then until the 30th expect the usual frustrations as electronic and mechanical devices misbehave, conversations go awry, and various other inconveniences come your way. During this time Mercury will be in Gemini, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors and short journeys at this time, so your thinking isn't going to be up to its usual standards. This is a good time to just forget about moving forward with any new ideas and take the time to review and edit anything you have in-work.

This really isn't a bad thing as you're sure to identify a few things you missed the first go-round that would have caused problems undetected. Just remember this is NOT, I repeat NOT the time to buy anything electronic or mechanical because it will be imprinted with a Mercury RX curse for the entire time you own it. Therefore, to preserver that Aries temper for more productive pursuits, "X" out May 6 - 30 on your calendar as far as shopping for anything like that is concerned, especially big-ticket items like cars and houses. Believe me, you will not like the way it turns out if you buy it during that time. Looking is okay, but that's it.

Saturn goes direct on May 16 after being retrograde since New Years Eve. It's pretty ironic that Mercury will be retrograde then, but the planets do tend to have a rather dark sense of humor. Saturn has been doing the back stroke in Virgo, your 6th House of work, health, and small animals. During the past four and a half months your subconscious has been ruminating on something in one of these areas that needs to be restructured or rebuilt in some way. By now you should be getting a handle on what it is and during that Mercury RX period until the end of the month I suggest pondering upon that a bit and giving any plans the once-over before proceeding. More than likely something related to your job or health needs to be addressed, but wait until June before embarking on any major projects.

Your Sign Ruler, Mars, is hanging out in his home base all month, which as you probably know is Aries. This is usually a good thing except with those retrograde planets out there the motivation he's throwing your way to get started on something is going to be frustrated. He's traveling with Venus and will be for quite a while, so take advantage of this to charm those around you. When Venus is in your 1st House of personality it makes you unusually attractive and it's easier to get what you want. However, with Mercury RX, this may not go as well as usual. People may find you charming but they won't have a clue what you want and you may not, either, for that matter. However, if you're reworking projects that have gone awry or redoing anything else, if forgiveness is required that should be easily obtained, so just remember to smile and things will probably get better.

The Full Moon on May 8 is in Scorpio, your 8th House of sex, death, transformations, and shared resources. This should bring something in this area of your life to a close or at least shift it to another phase. There are some interesting things going on at this time in your 11th House of friends, group associations, coworkers, and also your hopes and wishes. There's a stellium, defined as a grouping of three or more astrological entities hanging out in the same house or sign, in that neighborhood that comprises Jupiter, Neptune, and the asteroid, Chiron. These will be operating in the context of those 11th House matters and will manifest as an expansion of your idealistic or even compassionate views and beliefs in their regard.

With Chiron involved, this should also represent either a wounding or healing of some description. Chiron, particularly in your natal chart, indicates the part of your life where you are likely to suffer hurt of either a physical, mental, emotional or spiritual nature. These wounds never heal entirely, but we're supposed to take the insight we obtain from these painful experiences and use it to help others similarly afflicted. Thus, this looks as if it will bring you increased understanding and connection with a group that has suffered in some manner and you may even feel moved upon to help them in some manner. This could be facilitated by an unexpected flash of inspiration or other insight that had previously evaded you.

The New Moon on May 24th occurs in Gemini, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, and short journeys, the same house where Mercury is honking things up by being retrograde. This lunation carries the same aspects as already noted, but the implication is that these matters are evolving into a new phase than previously. It looks as if some of those group associations could cause you some unexpected trouble about this time and you may discover that you're not as like-minded as you may have previously believed. Therefore, the opportunity presented to expand your beliefs in their regard may simply be that you belong somewhere else. It wouldn't hurt to do some thinking about your career during this time as well and of course relationships are always fair game as well.

Short Term/Daily Aspects

From May 1 - 9 Venus will be squaring Pluto, which will force some considerations related to your personal satisfaction with your career. Those in a position of power will probably not find you very charming during this time, so bear that in mind. Around the 5th give some thought to your finances, how they relate to your job, and other options that might be out there. Remember that on the 6th Mercury goes retrograde, which is telling you to rethink a few things, and on the 8th the Full Moon will bring something to a close. More than likely all these things are tied together.

On May 11th some adjustments or a change of direction will be required with your work or current project. The 6th House is usually associated with our work, but it also relates to all those things we do with our hands, like build things. On the 16th Saturn goes direct, plus financial issues may stir up a few things with those group associations, which include your coworkers. Opportunities related to your finances based on some inspiration, or perhaps an experience related to an institution or feeling trapped, will be out there. Remember not to move forward, just yet, however. A significant emphasis on your finances or possessions is on the agenda for on or around the 18th.

There will be another financial hit to your hopes and wishes or those group associations between May 16 - 25 which will require some adjustments related to your work or perhaps that project you're pursuing. Opportunities are out there around the 20th, however, that could be useful, but it's going to be based on some unexpected inspiration, though there's also a possibility that surprise help could come from an institution of some description. On the 21st the Sun moves into Gemini, which will help your mental processes, but remember Mercury is still RX so this should be directed at reworking previous issues, not new ones. A Catch 22 or adjustment related to your career or public image will require your attention around the 23rd, then the New Moon comes along on the 24th.

Right around May 26 that stellium will get another blast of energy where you're going to want to take action regarding either those hopes and wishes or regarding that group of people, or perhaps even people in general. Opportunities will be there, but if you can think about it until after the 30th your chance of success will be improved. This is also a very favorable time to do something nice for someone without any regard for payment or benefit to yourself. Anything done with selfish motives will probably tank, anyway, so save your energy.

All in all, May looks like a month of fits and starts for you Rams. You'll have plenty of energy with Mars in your 1st House but between Saturn and Mercury retrograde, getting anywhere will be a slow and laborious process that may even prove to be an exercise in futility. Your best bet is to make sure you have all your ducks in a row plan-wise, then hit it hard in June.
