Lunations and Long-term Aspects

The Full Moon occurs on October 4 in Aries, your 6th House of work, health and pets.  This is not only your day job as far as “work” is concerned but also any projects you have going as well as most other things that keep you busy in a productive manner.   A Full Moon typically indicates a culmination which can be an ending or simply the closure of one phase and beginning of another.  As always there are various accompanying aspects that will provide some indication of what might be involved.  Most obvious is a Yod, also known as a Finger of God, which comprises Mars, Mercury and Neptune

Mars and Mercury are sextile, forming the base in your 9th and 11th Houses, respectively.  Mars in your 9th House represents activities with a lot of drive behind them that relate to your beliefs and expectations or possibly other 9th House matters which include higher learning, relocation, legal matters, other cultures or long-distance travel.  Mercury relates to thoughts, ideas, movement and how we stay busy and in your 11th House this can relate to your friends, coworkers, groups associations, goals, hopes or wishes.  Since a sextile usually denotes an opportunity, simply tie these two concepts together and see how they come together in a favorable manner.  Perhaps you’re actively pursuing something that you’ve been wanting for a long time with more drive and focus than in the past.  Do the “mix and match” routine on those 9th and 11th House issues and see what falls out that’s relevant to your particular situation.

The eye of the yod is Neptune who’s in Aquarius, your 4th House of home environment.  This is formed by the base planets being quincunx the one at the eye.  Bear in mind that a quincunx usually means an adjustment or change of course as well as sometimes having to justify your position.  Neptune is a dreamy, illusive influence that can inspire us or just as easily confuse us.  He moves very, very slowly and has been in your 4th House for a long time so his general influence there probably feels so natural that you’re unaware of it.  He can inspire idealism, sometimes to the extreme, dissolve any structure we try to impose, or lure us to a fantasyland that is a nice place to visit but not always very practical for everyday purposes.

Since it looks like Mercury and Mars, your ancient Sign Ruler, are pushing you toward something in this area, you need to make sure that whatever dream you may be pursuing is a realistic and worthy one.  Scorpios tend to obsess, so make sure if that’s the case that you’re not hard-over on something that isn’t really worth the effort.  On the other hand, if it’s a positive thing you’re striving for, go for it, full speed ahead!  Just make sure you know what you’re doing and that it’s not a waste of time or something that will bite you later.

It’s interesting to note that Mercury is opposite Uranus, who’s chugging along in your 5th House of creativity, ego expression, children, romance, entertainment and speculation.  Uranus is another slow-mover who is the planet of sudden change and the unexpected along with surprises, rebellion and innovation.  With him opposing Mercury, it implies there will be some surprises and possibly some very innovative ideas coming through that may disrupt your original plans.  Be flexible, something that usually isn’t too easy for a Scorpio as a Fixed Sign, because there’s always the chance that one of these seeming disruptions may contain a better goal than the original one.  Turn on that Scorpio discernment and see what comes out.  Saturn is also opposite Uranus, even though the orb is a bit wide, but this will tend to tell you to ignore Uranus and “stay the course.”  That may be exactly what you should do, but explore all angles of the issue before doing so.  Saturn is all about structure and hard work but is very conventional and conservative and there are times when we need to break free and try something new, different or exciting, which is Uranus’ function.  Weigh both sides carefully with your head and then follow your heart.

Saturn is squaring Pluto, your modern Sign Ruler, and these two bad boys will actually help you delve deeply into the issues or situation in what will ultimately be a very helpful way.  It may come as an obstacle or challenge,  but in reality is something you need to examine closely.  Pluto is in Capricorn, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, siblings and short journeys.  Since Scorpios are typically very discerning anyway and see beneath the surface better than most, this will put that ability on steroids.  It’s very unlikely that anyone, short of yourself or another Scorpio, will be able to fool you about anything.  Pluto is another very S-L-O-W mover but in this house it will probably be a Pluto transit that you will absolutely love.  Good thing, since it’s going to last until March 2023 with a few reruns until November 2024.  Thus, you have well over a decade to put this to work.

There are quite a few other aspects of a positive nature out there as well.  For one thing, Mars is trining Uranus, inviting innovation and change to those beliefs and expectations you’re currently looking at.  Mercury and Saturn are also trining the Moon’s North Node, a point that indicates something new coming into your life that will relate to those hopes and wishes or perhaps group endeavors.  Venus and Jupiter, two benefic planets, are in another quincunx, indicating another course change or adjustment that relates again to your goals as they relate to your home, perhaps expanding it in some way.  This could relate to your actual home itself or the people in it.  This could particularly pertain to some course changes related to money though it may also involve a relationship.  In other words, maybe you’ll finally have the means to take on that remodeling project or moving to another house or possibly the love of your life will surface from one of your group associations and be joining your household.  Cross your fingers and think positively!

The New Moon on October 18 occurs in Libra, your 12th House of dreams, inspiration, enlightenment, transcendence, institutions, confinement and hidden enemies.  Obviously, that is quite the mixed bag with everything from your fondest dreams to your darkest nightmares!  The good news is that most of the accompanying aspects are positive, though there are a few things to watch out for, which I’ll get out of the way first.  The lunation itself, which by definition is a conjunction between the Sun and Moon, is squaring the North Node, that point mentioned earlier that relates to something coming into your life or a new direction.  The North Node is in Capricorn, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, siblings and short journeys, which implies a new challenge of some sort in this area.  Saturn is also squaring Pluto, calling for more investigation into your goals or organizational ties to determine if they need to be restructured in some way.  There may be something there holding you back that you don’t really want to get rid of, but should.

Venus is squaring Pluto as well, and considering that Pluto very well may represent looking beneath the surface for anything that’s been ignored or buried which is this case may relate to money or relationships, this could stir something up that forces you to face the issue.  Overall, it looks as if there are a few things holding you back from moving forward with your life unless you do some major restructuring.   There is help to identify this, however.  For one thing, your buddy Mars has moved into Leo, giving him more energy than before, and his energy is now in your 10th House of career, reputation, public image, status and reputation and he’s going to help you with any restructuring as well plus work with those introspections to motivate you to get rid of anything holding you back.  Saturn and Uranus are in a bit of a dialog that may somewhat challenging since one is about structure and stability and the other about sudden change, but this is another call to look to areas of your life that simply need to be redefined.

The good news is that there is a lot of inspiration coming your way that relates to your home life and dreams for that major part of your life.  Now is the time to put past disappointments behind you other than any lessons they might contain and identify what you really want for that part of your life.  Now is a time to get in close touch with your spiritual side, figure out who and what you really are, and then set your aspirations accordingly.  This is where you need to remind yourself that if you keep on doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep on getting what you’ve always got, so if that’s not what you want, it’s time to change a few things.

Daily and Short-Term Aspects

October 1:  If you’re disappointed with something, take some time today to think about its root cause.  Particularly look at your core beliefs and expectations as they relate to your goals in life and make sure they’re not contradictory.  If they are, start thinking about what you need to do to fix them.

October 4:  Full Moon today as noted earlier.  Think about if there’s something you need to leave behind in order to move forward.

October 8 -  9:  Ideas and thoughts or possibly news related to how you see your responsibilities to any group associations or friends are possible.  If there is anything that needs to be changed, look to your creativity for answers.  If you’re considering a financial speculation of some sort, be sure to gather plenty of information and weigh the pros and cons carefully.  Expect to make some adjustments to how you feel about someone or something, especially if there were any delusions or deception involved.  Mercury goes into your 12th House today, assisting you with communicating with yourself at a deep, spiritual level.

October 10:  Enlightenment points the way toward an expanded view of home.  Contradictions between your thoughts and goals will be exposed if you’re watching for them.

October 12 – 13:  Jupiter goes direct on the 12th, allowing those beliefs related to home that have been brewing internally to crystallize.  Motivation to challenge anything holding you back is there, particularly as it relates to your fondest wishes.

October 14 – 15:  Venus goes into Libra on the 14th, bringing her blessings to your 12th House of enlightenment and inspiration.  If you’re not sure exactly what your dreams are, she’ll help you figure it out.  Look to your thought patterns for clues.

October 16:  Mars goes into Leo on the 16th, unleashing more of his energy than was possible in soggy Cancer.  This will manifest in your career and reputation, so put it to work.  Start tying those dreams together with your creativity or something you really need to be fulfilled as a person.

October 18:  New Moon as described above.

October 20:  Set some goals related to your home life today.  Take note of any ideas and give them serious consideration.

October 23 – 24:  The Sun goes into Scorpio on October 23, bringing attention your way and also moving you toward your solar return, which will start a new cycle.   Take some time for deep introspection to those areas that you know need some attention and rework.  If a change of course seems to be required, don’t just push it aside but look at it as objectively as possible.  Daydreaming and fantasizing are okay.

October 28:  Mercury goes into Scorpio, which will lend assistance in communicating with others.  Continue to examine your dreams, tune in to the Universe, and tie that back to your home.  You’re likely to uncover a few things you either didn’t know before or hadn’t thought of previously that will be important.

October 29:  Saturn goes into Libra, which will help you figure out a way to build those dreams.  Expect to confront something or someone related to your career or status.  Ask yourself if you’re going in the right direction to find what you really want.
