Lunations and Other Cosmic Events

This month is relatively quiet as far as cosmic events are concerned with the usual garden-variety lunations and Uranus stationing direct just after the Full Moon on Christmas Day.  This is not to say that there won't be some interesting events, only that on the surface things look quiescent.  There are a few things out there, however, that could stir up a few things.  When Uranus stations direct we'll have a little over a week starting the end of December and extending into January when all the planets are in direct motion.  When retrograde their energy is internalized so there's no telling what Uranus might be up to when his is expressed, especially given that Cardinal T-square he's involved with that I'll get to shortly.

The New Moon on December 11 is in Sagittarius, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, local travel, siblings and neighbors which suggests something new coming you way in that part of your life.  This placement is such that any issues you may encounter, particularly those related to that T-square I'm about to describe, can be mitigated by this house, whether it's via good ideas or the assistance of family or neighbors. 

That T-square I'm scrutinizing involves three malefic planets, i.e. Mars, Pluto and Uranus, all in Cardinal signs which incline toward action.  Uranus and Pluto have been in a square for quite some time with it not over anytime soon, which has been stirring things up enough.  Uranus rules such things as surprises, explosions, rebellion, freedom, technology, innovation and breaking free and he's in Aries, a sign that's impulsive and can be aggressive.  Pluto rules such things as power, control, corruption, obsession, things that should be eliminated and the Underworld.  He's in Capricorn, a sign that rules such things as corporations and government.  Clearly we've been seeing Pluto's work exposing much of what is going on in these venues as well as motivating power grabs on their part as they attempt to build or at least defend their interests.  A square builds tension and confrontations.  So clearly that square alone has been more than apparent in the world around us.  Mars joins this pair from Libra, the sign of his debility, which may indicate taking action toward negotiations except a T-square is typically a deadlock or stable pillar of tension. 

For Libra, which is a Cardinal sign, these planets fall in important natural houses.  In other words, Libra is your 1st house, Capricorn your 4th, Aries your 7th and Cancer your 10th.  If you're hopelessly confused about the different house systems, then see our section on them here.  If your birthday is right around October 10 then Mars is parked on your natal Sun which will make this configuration more likely to have a personal impact.  Pluto in your 4th suggests a need to downsize, take control of your finances, or eliminate things you no longer need (including old baggage related to memories).  Uranus in your 7th house of relationships suggests a variety of upsets and surprises from those close to you whether it's your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners, business professionals, cliental, competitors or open enemies.  If you tie all this together you have what could be quite a challenging situation BUT remember the New Moon provides a way to work your way through it.

Another troublesome aspect out there which is also going to be around for a while since it involves slow moving planets is a square between Saturn and Neptune.  These two are antithetical by nature with Saturn ruling responsibility, tradition and organization and Neptune ruling daydreaming, fantasizing and idealism.  Saturn is exalted in Libra so your energy and his are fairly compatible, which is good.  He's in your 3rd house of thoughts and such which should help bring structure to them but Neptune will do everything possible from Pisces, your 6th house of work, service, health and pets, to mess things up.  Perhaps you'll be so distracted by something in this part of your life that you can't concentrate on what needs to be done.  Neptune often involves deception, confusion and lack of motivation.  If you're experiencing these effects at work, you can blame Neptune.  Your sign ruler, Venus, may be able to offer some help from your 2nd house of income, possessions, finances, needs, comforts and pleasures.  For example, maybe you need a vacation to clear your head and figure things out or perhaps rework your budget for other options, particularly if you hate your job.

The Full Moon on Christmas Day is in Cancer, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status, suggesting an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase in that part of your life.  The T-square described above has gratefully dissipated but Mars is now squaring Mercury in Capricorn, suggesting news or information coming your way that you probably won't like.  Saturn and Neptune are still duking it out but Venus is still trying to lend a helping hand.  She's at the apex of a sextile pattern creating a favorable energy loop with a few opportunities to turn this news or information to your advantage.  The third party is Jupiter, currently residing in Virgo, your 12th house of inspiration, spirituality, enlightenment, seclusion, confinement, institutions, your subconscious mind, the collective consciousness, hidden enemies and self-defeating behaviors; I sometimes refer to the 12th as the house of "Angels and Demons."  Jupiter's expansive nature can be quite useful in this house and help put you in touch with your higher self and thus drawn inspiration regarding how to proceed. 

This month is a mixed bag of challenges and solutions with your sign ruler suggesting that taking care of yourself and scrutinizing your finances and life style are a good place to start.
